Glo's Sausage Fried Rice

This is an easy-to-prepare fried rice dished passed down by my Japanese mother. You won't find anything like it in the restaurants. Every time we have a family get-together or a covered dish luncheon at work, I am always requested to bring this rice.

Never did hear if it was either "hot" or "sweet" Italian sausage... If "hot" you could do penne and peppers, if sweet IMHO it goes a bit better with spaghetti or Capellini as a side Whether hot or sweet, if you have some form of a grill, grilling it makes sense. (Just don't stick it with a fork, leave all those good tastes inside the skin) Serve on a warmed or grilled Italian bun, and dress with your favourite mustard ( sweet honey, hot honey, dijon, regular, whatever!) sweet pickled relish, fine diced red onion would be the startig points, as you and yours acquire a "taste" for hot peppers and the like with this, let alone sauerkraught. Add to that some fresh veggies and dip, or a salad, oven roast or other potato, and you aren't that far from the national recommendations for feeding, let alone it tastes pretty good!

I have been making Giada DeLarentis's Turkey Sausage, Kale, and Brown Rice Soup. It is really good and very healthy. You can find it at foodnetwork.com

Easy to make using a variety of canned beans, this recipe combines butter beans, pinto beans, pork and beans, and chopped onion with traditional seasonings for rich, savory baked beans.

While this tamale pie has very little to do with its south-of-the-border namesake, it's a really delicious recipe all the same.

I just made this tonight using Johnsonville Italian sausage, mozarella, parmesan & spaghetti sauce to give this dish an Italian flavor. Will let you know how we liked it tomorrow.
