My dearest friend of 20 years is on his way from Chicago for a visit (as he usually does every few months). He's bringing his mother. She's in her 70's. I have only met her once and that was 20 years ago. I am so nervous ....I made myself sick. Why is this?

Nerves that is all. You have not seen her for 20 years so you are bound to have them. Have a nice cup of tea and a warm bubble bath and relax you will do just great.

Because we wonder if they will be disappointed in what they see or somethng like that. It's scary to see someone you haven't seen that you cared for.

Maybe you are afraid she won't like you. Since you are close to him you probably want her to like you. That is normal but I'm sure he will continue to be your friend regardless of if she falls in love with you or not. No need to throw up. Just be polite and do your best.

What was she like when you met her 20 years ago? She no doubt is a lovely lady and you both will have a nice visit, why do i say this? Because if she were not nice he no doubt would not even consider bringing her as you both are the dearest of friends! As for the vomiting, take a deep breath and keep things in perspective as the thought of something is always worse, then we end up thinking, hey it wasn't a bad experiance after all!!
