I found it here: http://www.bobsredmill.com/recipes_detail.php?rid=368 ........ I put oatmeal (just regular Quaker Oats) in the food processor and turned it into flour. I was very happy with this crust. Used it for a quiche. I couldn't find anything similar on this site.

OAT FLOUR PIE CRUST Contributed by: Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods 1 cup 1/4 Gluten Free Oat Flour 4 or 4-1/2 Tb Chilled Water 2 Tb Vegetable Oil 1/4 tsp Sea Salt Directions Before you start, make sure all ingredients are well chilled. Preheat oven to 350°F. Oil a 9" pie plate, set aside. In a medium-sized bowl, stir together all ingredients with a fork. Pat dough into prepared pie plate. Press pastry between fingers to make an edge. Add pie filling of choice, bake according to directions for pie filling. If baking pie crust alone, use fork to prick bottom in several places to prevent buckling. Bake 18-20 minutes or until crust is golden. Makes one 9-inch pie crust (8 slices).

That looks interesting for a savory dish. I love oatmeal, wonder if I can find a way to use all the steel-cut I bought on sale before we had such a mild winter!

I have an older but high-powered blender (no food processor, just the small one for onions and the like). I always worry about starting a fire w/ the motor in such grinding. Not today, but I'm going to post for recipes where I could use the steel oats.

Hi IP, and thanks for the recipe. I may just try this tomorrow. DH's BFF is coming for a quick visit and he loves apple pie. Sounds perfect for an oatmeal crust!

And I bought heavy whipping cream on a whim. Seems like every other thing I want to make calls for cream. . .

IP, I always love your posts, but may I say that what you added to my recent one to manella cracked me up?!

Glad you took it that way...after I posted, I thought "Peggy MYOB" Thanks, kiddo.

Peggy not-MYOB, I think it was Mary Ellen not long ago that I told to not worry about sticking her nose in(or whatever phrase she'd used to me)! Buzzers know I went through a time of "unusual" posts because of being on Ambien, but in general, somewhere in my mind I know that what I put here can be accessed by everyone. Even if you don't want to be, you tend to be one of my voices of reason here! (And I have to say this because it was STOP THE PRESSES!!!! news when the Gophers beat Indiana the other night: thank you, Indiana, for giving the state of Minnesota a few minutes of sports glory again!)

So glad you posted the recipe. I've been wondering if there was a pie crust recipe to use when going wheat free! I had forgotten about an oatmeal pie crust!

I liked it sueb; hope you do. Was very easy too. I've never bought oat flour, so it might even be better with it, instead of processed oatmeal.
