I'm making my usual tuna sandwiches tonight and was thinking about adding some chopped capers for extra flavor. Good idea or bad idea? Should I just leave well enough alone? Also what do you do to jazz up your tuna? Lots of questions for a simple tuna sandwich!

I have a tuna pasta salad recipe that uses capers in it and they are good. I would go for it.

Thanks iceemama, I think I'll go for it. Tuna pasta salad sounds even better than sanwiches. Hmmm...Now you've got me thinking!

HI,i like to dice up some celery and onion for mine.Capers are salty, imo.i would not put them in.Mind you if you like salty, you could try just a little bit, that way if you don't like it your not out a lot of tuna.Hope this helps.

I sometimes leave the mayo out and use mashed avocado instead. Very tasty.

My aunt adds finely chopped apple & I think some pecans to hers. I like crushed thin potato chips on top of mine if a sandwich.

Hi manella, thanks for reminding me of the saltiness. I could have ruined dinner if I added too much. I too add onion and I have some celery I could add. Good idea for extra crunch. Very helpful advise, thanks again :)

How do you feel about chipotle peppers? Add some chopped peppers for an extra spicy sammie.

I've been known to put lots of things in my tuna. Celery, eggs, lipton soup, cheese, onions, onion powder, garlic powder, croutons, potato chips, green peppers, shredded carrots, crackers, relish, mustard, ketchup, etc. Not all at one time of course, just in different recipes.

Oh yeah and miracle whip. Family can't stand mayo.

Sunflower seeds and cheese distinguish this chicken salad from the rest. Tossed with grapes and celery in a basic mayonnaise dressing.

I bet this can be modified to use tuna. I say that because I've made it twice now (once with substitutions like a sour cream/cream cheese mix and another making the recipe almost as is), but I used canned chicken both times. Bet you could use tuna and it taste as good.

I just resently added sweet relish with thinly chopped onion and mayo to my can tuna. I love it! Lots of salt and pepper as well.
