As some of you may know I just started on this weight watchers plan. 2 kids have left me with 42 extra pounds and I've been carrying it around for too long (if over weight people carry extra weight around every day should they not be the fitest people???) We have no bathroom scale at our house. I went out to purchase one and brought it home. In the kitchen I unpacked all my shopping for that day and pulled out the scale. The instructions said to set it on a flat surface, let it warm up to room temperature and then explained how to adjust it before beginning. I unwrapped the scale, placed it on the floor andset about other things letting it 'warm up'. The kids came home and saw the new 'toy' and tried weighing everything they could get their hands on. Since you need to stand on and off several times in order to calibrate the scale I thought this was all good. As the minutes ticked by the scale got pushed aside and came to rest under the counter at my 'baking station' of the kitchen. When Mr.RedApple came home he took one look and commented "Is THIS your new diet plan? Putting the scale right in front of the KitchenAid so everytime you go to make yourself brownies you have to stand on the scale and will rethink your decision?" Funny it was but likely would work too. Now I need to also place a scale infront of the fridge, the pantry, etc. etc. etc.!!!

Love it, RedApple. Maybe I should move our scales downstairs and sit it right by my computer. This is where I look up all the yummy recipes on AR!

Hi, let me/us know how the new WW program goes. Re the scale, on the Dragon's Den site, you can order a scale that one competitor designed which, recognizes your original weigh-in weight, but will only show your net gain or loss when you weigh yourself. I am ordering it today, around $50.00 cdn.

Been there with 'ya-let us know how it goes. I need some motivation!

I just love you guys! There is so much support and enthusiasm from everyone! I must admit, having the scale right infront of the kitchenaid has certainly provided some motivation!

You may want to purchase scales in front of the refrig and other places. As for me, I NEED to lock the refrig and pantry!

My sister had a pair of pants that didn't fit. She hung the pants on the fridge until she could.

If you checked my RB you'd think "She's overweight, high blood pressure, possibly diabetic, .....". I do have a lot of fat & sugar content in most of my recipes. I do need to eat better and my doc was really helpful. I do not have high blood pressure and I'm not a diabetic but AM over weight. Doc said to shave 100 pounds from what I eat at meals and that I would not be hungry and lose 2 pounds per week easily. I do eat veggies w/o cooked in fats and processed foods. I know I can do it. I want to shed it slowly than all at once. Good luck to ya on Weight Watchers. Would you mind sharing some recipes?

I just started yesterday so I do not have any recipes to share yet. If you check my recipe request from last night there are so many recipes offered by so many people. Thank you Rosebud for typing out everything last night!!

You are preaching to the choir nanny :) Hmmmm.....and I am now the newest member of WW. Thankfully, they have not asked me to give up my sense of humour. I'd starve on that diet.

haha - i had to come back & say NO cheesecake for you-i had rather enjoy 3 bites of something i want- than a pound of something that i don't want:-)
Feb. 23, 2013 10:41 am
Sadly, no. There will be no cheesecake for me :( But that doesn't mean I can't offer my recipe to others. At least someone will have a fiesta on their taste buds tonight!

the thing that helped me the most-- you are gonna laugh- but it's true- put down the fork!!! between bites- we do not chew our food completely- a sip of water- a bite- fork down- chew completely- a sip of water- and repeat- i promise it works- we eat so quickly- our tummys cannot register that we are full- :-) yes- i am the slowest eater in the world- but i enjoy every bite:-)

I am so glad you said that. I was just reading something about that recently and wondered if it would really work. It makes sense but in practicality you never. I'm glad you mentioned it. I just entered in my favourite dinner recipe and discovered a whole serving is only 6 points! I am pumped about that (stuffed squash)!

i am so happy for you- it can be like your own private competition- but just don't be too hard on yourself- or you will get burnt out- when i made a pact with myself- it was - lose 10 pounds- AND keep that 10 off a full week- and my treat was eggplant parm at a little italian reaturant where i lived then- i would spend 3 hours for that meal- really- a bottle of chanti- eggplant parm- salad & bread-- it was what worked for me:-)

LOL! Oh man, my kids did the same thing with my scale! I remember when I bought it (after my forth). I was so gungho for it to be my exercise buddy. However, it eventually became my weighing packages buddy, my weighing foods buddy and once was my weighing a book buddy, cause I was curious to see how much it weighed. But that's my story. Hope you have much more success with your weight loss journey!
