Indiana82 is looking for: (6 recommendations)
I am have a friendly chili competition with my neighborhood and need a good recipe with some heat! There are no rules, so any kind of chili will work. I have some go-to recipes that I use now, but was looking for some change. Anyone have any recommendations on an unforgettable chili recipe?

This is a good, standard chili, with lots of ground beef, tomatoes, kidney and pinto beans, and onions. It needs to simmer for 90 minutes on the stove, or can be made in a slow cooker and left to simmer all day.

I like this as a base...but I add Portuguese sausage (chourico) to mine to give it something the states, I know it is much more common to find chorizo, the Spanish version.

This weekend I am participating in a chilli cook off with several other participants who will be getting judged on their chilli between 5:00 and 5:30 pm on Saturday afternoon.

OK-this sounds weird but is really interesting in chili...Make your usual recipe but also add a DASH of dill pickle juice (right out of the jar).Be carefull not to add too much-you can always add more and taste should be subtle- and add at beginning to let it infuse the entire pot. We call this "Green Flash Chili"

I always use ground beef and Italian sausage! I have also put dark cocoa & or coffee for a deep, rich flavor! Good luck!

Ground beef, Italian sausage, beans, and a tomato base come together with lots of flavor and spice in this popular chili recipe. It's perfect for tailgating before football games or any time of year.

A mixture of pork sausage and ground beef, slowly cooked with beans, lots of chili powder, cumin, and some masa harina flour gives this chili its prizewinning taste.

I almost died when I thought I'd make this one! I had all the ingredients but didn't look to see how much chili powder it wanted. Wow! I cut it back, way back, and it was really good chili.

Feb. 22, 2013 6:35 am Oh, so good, and truly never fails me. Make it as hot as you want with the jalapeno. Just remember it gets hotter as it simmers away. Don't forget the shredded cheese topper! GOOD LUCK!
