Has anyone put a bit of walnut oil, instead of all butter, in brownies? The bottle says it'll give a "sublime flavor." Thanks.

I don't see why not, as long as most of the fat still comes from butter. After all, people traditionally put walnuts in their brownies :)

That reminds me of a story my parents told on each other from thier early days of marriage. My mother didn't drink milk but my Dad always loved a big glass of milk with every meal. Once my mother read that if you put a drop of Tabasco sauce in milk it would give it a "Unique" flavor. Not willing to drink it herself she talked my reluctant Dad into trying it. One mouthful was enough and the chickens got that glass of milk and mother was given to understand that he now knew the meaning of "Unique" and wanted no more to do with it. They enjoyed each others humor for over 50 years and Dad would be 100 now and mother 99 What a joy it was for me to grow up with them as parents to my sister and me. Thanks for the memory. P.S. The walnut oil sounds good to me.

I found this:This expensive, delicate, light-colored, unrefined, specialty oil is generally made in the Perigord and Burgundy regions of France. Unlike other nut oils, unrefined walnut oil is made from nuts that are dried and then cold-pressed. Walnut oil is high in polyunsaturated fats. It has a rich, nutty flavor that is perfect for salad dressings, to flavor fish and steaks, to toss with pasta, and to jazz up desserts. Walnut oil is best used uncooked or in cold sauces because when it is heated, it can become slightly bitter. This flavor, however, can be a pleasant taste when experienced in moderation. Unrefined walnut oil is terrific on salads, particularly when you combine it with bits of walnuts. Add walnut oil to a chicken or turkey salad along with some grapes and chopped walnuts. Brush a thin coat of walnut oil on grilled fish and steaks just before serving. Toss freshly cooked pasta in a mixture of walnut oil and spices. Try using walnut oil in dessert recipes that will be enhanced by the nutty flavor.

"Sublime", Ah, I remember this from 'Ann of Green Gable's", Sublime means Very good, and Unique.
