Ganache question. Need to fill between two 9 inch cake layers. Should I make whole recipe or woud half be enough? TIA :)

fill between two cakes as in just one layer of filling? this says it makes two cups and if that's accurate, then 1 cup would be enough for just one layer of filling. but halving the recipe would use only 1/4 cup of heavy cream and that seems too little to me. I've also never made ganache with ingredients in addition to the chocolate and cream. Let me see if I can figure out which recipe I've used before...

thanks Alex. I agree about the 1/4 cup. And I shoud have mentioned that I was omitting the other stuff. I can't find the recipe I used last time...sigh....

This is a rich, dark chocolate topping or decoration that has lots of uses. It can be whipped as filling or icing, or just poured over whatever cake you like.

This one I think (used for the same purpose as you, filling for a cake). And this halved for one layer of filling, with 1/2 cup cream and a little vanilla instead of the rum.
