Elaine, I'd never heard of Penzeys so checked online. There's one right in the Uptown area, one of the areas I'd be going. Can you give me ideas for what to especially look for? My goal right now is the big shrimp dish (that everyone's heard about!) and finishing valentines, but I'm looking ahead. Just so I'm not sticker-shocked, is it, overall, expensive? My guess is yes, given the location.

No they are not bad in price and they so helpful in recommending spices. You tell them what you are making they will gladly recommend a spice to go with it. So to the paprika they have 3 types of Hungarian and the 1 Spanish smoked. What I really like about there stores is all the spices are in sample jars so you smell them to see you if like a certain scent. The average price for 1/4 cups ranges around 2.99, some are less and some are a bit more. But if you go with the bulk size they are even cheaper. Good luck and have fun, I'm like a kid in candy store every time I go.
