How long should I allow for a 1# bag of raw shrimp to thaw? I'm actually planning ahead!

I would set it in some cool water and when it starts to separate, I'd let it finish in the fridge.

I'm with patticakes43 on that. I usually stick mine in a colander and run cool water over them, then separate them and they thaw rather quickly.

I always thaw mine in the fridge the night before and if they are not completely thawed then I run cool water over them until they separate.

Since they are raw and will obviously be part of some dish involving cooking/baking, you really only need to let them in sit in cold water for a few minutes before they are ready to use.

I pull them from the freezer when I'm ready for them. I hold them under cold running water until the shell softens enough to push apart. This helps with the deveining, too.
