Hi Emeralds, i also need a new hand mixer and i bought a lot of different kinds over the years, from Proctor silex to Betty crocker, and i find none of them seem to last, everything is massed produced and made cheap so i also would like to get a good one too.

A buzzer had asked this same question recently; I think KAs were being talked highly of. Also, a piece of advice I was given before getting my KA stand mixer was to not get ones at cheaper chains, that the machines might have the same brand and model # but are more cheaply made. The info was from a reputable source, so I don't doubt it's at least sometimes true. Too bad it's hard to be able to trust most co anymore.

Bernadene, what you said is like when I needed a new iron a few yrs ago. I'd had a good Rowenta whose steam function (only the spray) hadn't worked very long. So I decided to go cheap, got the Classic (black and silver, nice look) Black & Decker. Works great.
