It is hard to find scratch strawberry cakes, so this one is worth it weight in gold to me as a caterer. Frost with cream cheese or vanilla frosting - or for a treat, use a chocolate glaze!

You can use all purpose flour but decrease the amount by 2 T per cup. Some prefer to substitute the 2 T with cornstarch which will also be fine.

Neither will give you the same results as cake flour.

Thanks, Marie. So if I take out 2 T of flour then I add in 2 T of cornstarch per cupe or is it 2 T of cornstarch overall?

I may have to put these off today and wait until I make a trip to the store, lol. I want to make for Valentines Day

If you us the cornstarch remove 2 T of flour per cup and replace with 2 T cornstarch per cup.

I think if you sift and measure gently, you can substitute regular flour for cake flour, maybe sift twice.

^^ Same thing I would do. Cake flour has a slightly lower protein content, but I use regular AP flour in such recipes and have never noticed a difference. Cake flour is a LOT more expensive and not worth the extra cost. Eggs are never an exact amount so in a recipe with 4 eggs, the difference in your quantity of flour really won't matter.
