alleycat is asking: (1 answer)
Sometimes I like to make brownies from a box. I know, I know..so not cool. Until I realize for the hundredth time the edges are hard and remember that this is why I don't make all the time. Is there a way to prevent this? I make in a glass pan too.

Turn the temp down 25 degrees and make a 1-2 inch foil rim all the way around to shield the edges. This will help slow down the edges from baking at a faster rate. Pull off the foil somewhere in the middle or end of baking if you like.

Hi Alley! Please hit the Recipe Request next time okey dkey? But I also use the box......I'm not much of a baker. So do what YOU do best! Don't sweat the small stuff! I bet no one has complained about your brownies....at least you make them!Worry about all those lonely brownie mixes on the shelves, LOL!

I'm no help because I love the crunchy edges. Have alwas wanted to buy one of those pans that make all edges, but I'm to cheap.

It just isn't a brownie without that yummy crunchy edge. I think they make a special pan so all the pieces have the crunchy edge.

What's for dinner, mom?

Oh! I take the corners! Best part! :) I admit to using boxed mix too! Sometimes you just need quick and easy! But - if you have the time... this recipe for One Bowl Brownies is pretty easy and VERY close to box perfection! http://allrecipes.com/recipe/one-bowl-brownies/detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=one%20bowl%20brownies&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e13=A%3aSearch%20Results-List%28control%29&e7=Recipe

Adding to what Marie C said: did you know glass bakes hotter, which is why you always put the oven at 25 degrees lower? I'm w/ you on the crunchy, though. Bring on the chewy! Some sort of cream cheese mix or choc-pbutter combo on top are my only ideas. Glass is tough for me on most things so pretty much gave up. Good luck!
