What's for dinner, mom? is looking for: (8 recommendations)
I've never made Fettuccine Alfredo before and my daughter is requesting to make this for our Valentine's Day dinner. She wants to add chicken and possibly broccoli. Lots of recipes to choose from, but... what is your favorite one? We are splurging so bring on the fat and calories! :) Thanks!

This creamy alfredo sauce turns a busy weeknight dinner into something special. Serve it with fettuccine or pour it over chicken breast or steamed vegetables.

I hate to interrupt - but I sure have WFDM!! And believe you me, my friends and family rave about it. I usually just bake (or grill if you prefer) some chicken marinated in italian dressing and it is FOR sure a hit!! Enjoy your Valentines!(and i may have just stole your menu for that day myself!) :) Thanks!!

I have only made this with milk(not whole milk either) and have to say it passes the taste test for me. I can only imagine how much better the texture and flavor would be with cream. I may have to try it some day :)

Love this alfredo sauce. I like putting seafood in it. like crab, cooked shrimp and them other things...omg I am losing words right and left! not shallots...not scallions...its chunky seafood...geez. Anyway, that's my favorite with a green salad and something chocolatey, or cheesecakey to follow up :)

WFDM: I made this pizza, and remember thinking that if I was ever going to make anything "Alfredo", that I'd use the sauce part of this recipe for it . . . the pizza was awesome! http://thetwobiteclub.blogspot.com/2011/07/spinach-artichoke-alfredo-pizza.html

I just saved this recipe for next Sunday's dinner. My Niece and her boyfriend join us for Sunday night dinners and the past 2 Sunday's I have made dishes that pleased my hubby and son and the boyfriend good sport that he is ate the meals with out complaining even taking seconds. When I asked what he would like for dinner this week he said Chicken Alfredo. I just quietly groaned inside because I never like how my Alfredo comes out. This sounds so much creamier then anything I have ever made.

This is generally what I use, I love it and its very good! Good Luck. 1 tablespoon butter, 1 clove garlic (minced), 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest, 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour, 1 cup milk, Salt, 2 tablespoons cream cheese, 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for topping), 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, Pepper Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and lemon zest and cook until the garlic is slightly soft. Add in the flour stirring with a wooden spoon, Whisk in the milk and 3/4 teaspoon salt, whisking constantly, until just thickened, about (3 minutes) add the cream cheese and Parmesan cheese; whisk until melted. Stir in the chopped parsley.

This is my go to recipe for Alfredo. I bake chicken breasts ahead of time(either just s,p, garlic powder, or marinate in Italian dressing, or I have even done cajun type rub). Make sauce, slice chicken breasts, steam broccoli, assemble, good to go! If you aren't fussy on presentation, I dice up the chicken, throw everything in the big skillet and heat up the whole business.

WFDM, I don't know if you're interested for another time, but I've seen a video of an alfredo sauce made from cauliflower. I understand it can even be frozen. Here is one link: http://on.aol.com/video/how-to-make-low-fat-alfredo-sauce-278834586 I don't believe this is the original video I saw, but it is instructive. Enjoy your alfredo Valetine's Day dinner!

Are you long on love but short on time? Use pre-packaged cookie dough, cream cheese, confectioner's sugar, cherry pie filling and whipped topping to fashion a sweet and fanciful heart-shaped delight.
