Hi all, Just picked up cube steak at the store, after working a night shift, that looked really good. But now am wondering if I might of made a mistake. It is about 2" thick and I do not know how to cook it to make it good. I can't seem to find any recipe for cube steak that is that thick. Any suggestions? Thanks everyone in advance.

abuse that meat---mallet it! get your aggressions out.

You could also use a sharp knife to slice it horizontally and proceed with a recipe of your choice.

If you put it in the freezer about 30 minutes, just long enough to get some crystallization--not solid, it will be more stable as you slice it.

So this type of meat is not meant to be 2" thick and cook?

I usually use cube steak for chicked fried steak. I think you could just flatten it out to your desired thickness and cook however you want and it should be fine! May take a few minutes longer than normal

Are you sure it is not three or four steaks staxked up? They will look like a single thick steak if stacked.

I think you're supposed to pound it, especially since it's usually a tough cut of meat, the pounding would be intergal to tenderize it.
