Depending on thickness for how long to cook. A 1" sirloin for med-well I do 7min. a side on a high broil. Sounds delicious~Enjoy

Depends on thickness of the steak and how well done you family likes them.

I was watching Barefoot Contessa the other day, and she was on vacation in Napa Valley. She went to visit her friend, Tyler Florence, and they broiled some Porterhouse steaks at one of his restaurants. Couple of things that he said that stuck in my mind is only season steaks with salt before broiling. Don't use pepper, as the pepper will burn, and give the steak an off flavor. Pepper after you've removed it from the broiler.

And other chefs say to only salt at the end of cooking since the water draws moisture out of the meat !!!!
