Since apparently Ohio decided one snow was enough, I used the heavy cream I had saved for snow ice cream to make homemade butter this afternoon. (Kids impressed). What bread should I make for dinner tonight ?

Homemade Butter

You can make great tasting butter at home just by putting heavy cream in a food processor and running it till it turns into butter.

We visited a pioneer home on a field trip recently(son's 2nd grade class) & we made homemade butter by pouring heavy cream in a small jar(think baby food size) & shaking the heck out of it for a few minutes. It was sooo good! I'd love to make a bigger batch like this & the food processor makes it so much easier. Thanks for posting this!

I didn't tell the kids what we were making and about half way through the middle one said...hey that looks like the butter my class made. I am so glad they still teach things like this.

(oh, and today we used kitchen aid mixer with whisk attachment....added just a pinch of kosher salt at beginning. then used very fine sieve to rinse/drain since I have no idea what happened to my cheesecloth (and we moved over a year ago now so i suspect I should just buy new)

Light Wheat Rolls

This is a yummy recipe for a light wheat roll that I keep in my special book of most liked recipes. It is a little more work than most bread recipes, but I like that I can make these, partially bake, and then finish baking the rolls anytime I need them.

That would depend on what is for dinner. Thou these go with pretty much everything. I have never rolled them up. These are light and delicious.

Don, is there anything you don't have a recipe for ?? I so appreciate that your share your wealth of knowledge. This is saved as the kids will LOVE it. But the problem now is we have NO snow , the cream was going to be outdated waiting to make snow ice cream so we turned it into butter. Silly sunshine and green grass in January. I hate it.

Pioneer woman's "steak fingers" (breaded cube steak and gravy) likely main course. Asparagus and hubby will likely want mashed potatoes. Thanks for suggestions.

BlackEyed Pea restaurants serve wheat rolls similar to what I suggested. Goes great with their chicken fried steak.
