Bodega Bay Cioppino

This stew brings back childhood memories of Northern California and new buckets brimming with crab and baskets of sourdough bread. Rich, red, and very messy, it is now a New Years tradition at my house. Serve in large bowls with sourdough bread on the side. Never any leftovers!

Grilled Vidalia Onion Soup

I would like to be able to claim this but I got it from a good friend, I added the sherry. Vidalia Onions cooked on the grill, sealed in foil! Just like French onion soup, without the bother! Great anytime, and very easy to make. This can be made in the oven, 350 degrees for one hour. Serve with warm, crusty, bread and a sturdy red wine!

I knew I took my culinary life into my own hands with that pick but I picked the red clam chowder as a spicy tip of the hat to New Orleans as the Super Bowl host city.

Doug -- I don't have a recommendation, but you mentioned in your most recent blog about your she-crab soup. Do you have the recipe posted here, or would you consider posting it? Thanks. mbo

Cioppino

A classic seafood stew with a little bit of everything from the sea. Shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, and crab meat; seasoned with oregano, thyme and basil. Serve with a loaf of warm, crusty bread for sopping up the delicious broth!

I'm not even a fan, but I think for the sake of food themed Super Bowl parties everywhere, San Francisco needs to win today! Atlanta just doesn't have a specific food identity all it's own. ;-)

Peaches, pecans, onions and peanuts area all very much southern foods, but they are just southern foods. Atlanta has no real "thing". The coastal regions of GA has great food identities, but Atlanta just sort of has the same old same old as everyone else.
