I think I have finally figured out why my homemade bread wasn't rising. Thought I would share.

I have always had a problem with bread not rising. I use a bread machine to knead the bread. I keep the bread machine in the basement which in the winter stays about 50 degrees. So needless to say the bread pan is chilly when I make the bread. So I discovered if I put hot water in the pan and dry it my bread seems to rise better. Thought I might pass this hint on to others.

Ah, too much of a chill for the bread. Glad you got it figured out. There is nothing better than fresh bread!

Interesting! I've made Clone of a Cinnabon twice. It failed one of those times. I also tried to make another cinnamon roll recipe for Christmas Eve and it failed. So today, I did the same thing as you. I put hot water in the bread pan and let it sit a few minutes. Here's hoping today's cinnamon rolls turn out!

Great idea - I also store mine in the basement so I certainly will try to remember your tip!

Yes!!!! First rise worked. I've packaged the cinnamon rolls by twos and frozen all but 2 of them, which are in the frig overnight. I'll take them out tomorrow morning, let them rise a bit, and bake. I think warming up the bread pan may have done the trick. Well, that and my newly bought instant yeast from King Arthur Flour!
