Indiana Peggy is looking for: (1 recommendation)
I was given a lovely rosemary plant at Christmas. It is shaped like a little Christmas tree. There is no name tag. How do I know if this is the kind of rosemary we can use to cook with? Or is there only one kind? Thanks!

Yes, Indiana Peggy, it is the same rosemary as for cooking. I only use the needles, not the stems, as they are usually too woody. They are cold hardy here in Texas, even used as landscaping plants! Check with your Extension Agent to see if they are hardy in your area. Enjoy!

You might want to wash it really well before cooking with it. Sometimes they are meant for decor and scent and are sprayed with different substances. I got one once that was sprayed with glitter!

Rosemary all the same, I just use leaves not stems. quite a strong herb -- If I use with oregano or so. I normally use half to them . Hope helps. cheers. Get better soon.

Thank you, all! Just making sure about what I will be cooking with...if I keep it alive. Love the smell. Thanks for the good wishes. Still healing. Ups and downs, but basically up. Nice to hear from you, mis amigas y mi amigo, Don.
