O K all bakers out there, it’s January 6, Twelfth Night, it’s now legal to make those delicious, mouth watering, New Orleans Mardi Gras King Cakes, so lets all get our ovens fired up and enjoy this tasty treat, HAPPY MARDI GRAS everyone and Laissez les bons temps rouler!!!!!

Cajunchef.. I swear you get more excited about King Cakes then Christmas!! I just may have to bake one this year. I enjoy you enthusiasm and Happy Mardi Gras to you!

I have never made a King cake but plan to do so this year. Thanks for the heads up that it's time! Nice to see you again!

There must be something alluring about that nude plastic baby which sits upon this cake and supposedly brings good luck.

A few years ago I was leaving Baton Rouge with a king cake from my Nola-bred sis-in-law to take to my parents in Georgia. It too have to go thru the scanner at the airport. The TSA agents took great pleasure in finding the Baby Jesus thru the miracle of modern x-ray!! They offered to mark the spot so I could control who "found" Him when the cake was cut.
