Hi all. I bought fresh sliced button mushrooms on 12/2/2012 and accidently put them in the BACK of the frige. ARGGGGGGHHH! Ok, so now i wanna rush and make them tonite but the look brown (dont smell weird but are brown). Do u think I can get away with making a meal with them or just throw them out? I dont want to get any one feeling sick at my house. lol. Thanks!!

I would taste a raw one and if it didn't have any off flavor I would use them. I am not opposed to using old veggies.

As long as they are not slimy, I'd use them!

For any shroom to be edible Raw it should have a dry soft leather texture with no sheen. If You are going to cook with it Personally i wouldn't use it beyond glazing over"start of decomp".. but at that point it usually has a fishy smell. I've been trying to stay away from fishy smelling things because i've found it always means trouble for me.. :)
