What is the purpose of a rolling pin cover?

It helps to prevent the dough from sticking to the rolling pin without adding extra lour to the dough. And it keeps it snuggley warm!

LOL, warm and snuggley. I recall NEEDING a pastry cloth and rolling pin cover. Never use them. Can't get past thinking I'm rolling lint and other stuff I can't see into the dough. LOL. My silicone pastry mat I use ALL the time.
