Making Corn Tortillas-Carolyn wants enchiladas tonight. We do not bother buying corn tortillas but we do have masa and a tortilla press. How can we make the tortillas realy flat? When we make tortillas they come out rather thick and we need to make 'em thiner so we can make the enchiladas. Any help on this? Thanks!

Try starting them with a smaller ball of dough and flatten it a bit with your hand before putting it in the press. If it's still too thick after pressing, use a rolling pin on it while it's still between your sheets of plastic.

1/4 c. flour 1/8 c.(2 tbs)cornmeal 1/8 tsp baking powder 1/8 tsp pepper 1/8 tsp salt 1/8 tsp garlic powder 3/8 c. hot water Directions mix all ingredients well. lightly heat medium frying pan and lightly coat with cooking spray. turn off heat. pour in batter. swirl pan to coat. turn on heat to medium. cook until done but still pliable. Footnotes garlic and pepper could be omitted and cinnamon and sugar added to make a dessert tortilla.could be made with wheat flour.rice flour could also be substituted to make this dish gluten free. this was a recipe i made today but it has not been accepted yet the are very thin if you put the batter in to a cold pan to start and swap up the flour for corn meal and maybe add a little more water
