chicklet is looking for: (14 recommendations)
I'm having some friends over Friday night and I just wanted to do something simple like soup and sandwiches. I"m thinking of clam chowder and some sort of hot sandwich. Any idea's? Thanks.

I've always wanted to try these. I've had it in my recipe box forever. Maybe now is a good time to make them. Thanks Molly.

These sound awesome Susan. Do you use black olives?

Sorry this isn't on AR and I haven't seen a similar but these are very good and easy. I made them for an after Thanksgiving party and they were the most talked about item. http://www.waittilyourfathergetshome.com/2012/07/30/seven-alive-guest-post-ham-sandwiches/

I'm thinking that with clam chowder, you'd want to compliment it with some sort of "bacony" sandwich...(ham, or prosciuotto sp?) would so well...you could almost look at bruschetta draped with a piece of melted Provolone and a couple slices of prosciuotto...

This is the real Monte Cristo sandwich. It has a nice thick batter and is absolutely delicious. Enjoy hot sandwich with currant jelly or make a currant sauce with currant jelly, water and heavy cream.

This recipe is a favorite in my family! I take a French class and I bring these little sandwiches to the French meeting. This typical French delectable is always on the menu in little French cafes.

Easily adaptable into a Monte Cristo by just adding chicken, this wonderful battered then fried sandwich makes a great lunch with a tossed salad.

This is a twist on an old classic -- ham and cheese. Adding a fresh cut pear gives the sandwich a nice, light sweetness that you won't forget.
