I would like to make my Mother's Sour Cream Cookies for Christmas but I am wondering if instead of rolling them out and cutting them out if I could make them into balls and flatten them a bit and then bake them? I am not a fan of rolling and cutting cookies out and want to save time if possible. Thank you

I don't see why you couldn't.

You can do it any way you would like to do it since you are the chef.

I was going to say the same.

Perhaps you could roll the cookie dough into a log, roll the log in colored sugar or sprinkles and wrap tightly in plastic wrap to freeze. When you thaw the dough out you can cut it into 1/4 inch rounds and bake. Merry Christmas :)

It would be nice if you had something you could use to imprint a design on them when you flatten them---like the bottom of a glass or jar or sometimes I use the meat cleaver for that design. I have one jar that makes a nice circle imprint on the top of a cookie.

Meat tenderizer, not cleaver.

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas! Now I am getting excited about the cookie making!
