Hey Gang! Hope all is well! I know its late but hopefully I could get some help from you all. I have been asked to make the recipe inside for a Christmas party coming up soon. I need to go and buy a 12x18 pan. I have NO clue as to what I should look for. Heavy duty? Non-stick? I'm trying to avoid buying online as I wanted to do a trial run soon. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated! Thanks:)

Meringue Mushrooms

Submitted by: Holly Wilkins
These take a bit of work and time, but are spectacular. They are highly prized for Christmas gift-giving! As with other meringue recipes, these should only be made on a dry day. You will need a pastry bag with a plain tip. If you can save some green plastic berry baskets from the summertime, these mushrooms look totally realistic placed in them.

Heavy duty will bake more evenly. Don't get a non-stick one. You'll need to use parchment paper so the non-stick won't accomplish anything and eventually it will peel. Make sure it has a 1" rim. These are fun! You should make some meringue mushrooms for decoration.

Thanks Janet! Yes I am making the meringue mushrooms, and also making holly leaves with tinted fondant. I hope this turns out..LOL. I never made a "roll" cake before so we'll see....

I would listen to what Janet says. I like only the heavy aluminum pans. I don't like my Paula Deen ones for the fact that they don't clean up really well, but I do like that they are heavy.

Thanks Marianne! I'm thinking this might be an online order though, I wonder if Michael's or AC Moore has these? How are you doing? I'm rarely on the "buzz" anymore, miss it :)

Hey Cat Lady!! Not sure if this is what you are looking for... I have heard lots of people mention Sam's Club and Costco have great deals on sheet pans. Or maybe a at a Restaurant Kitchen supply store??

Everything's good. AR keeps changing, as do the members of the Buzz. You know how that goes. We always miss our old friends. Do you have access to a Sam's Club? Everyone seems to like their choices on pans. Don't know about Michael's. Our Ralphs (Kroger) has pans, too, as does BB&B.

Hi Lobster! We don't have Costco or Restaurant Kitchen around here, but I could try Sam's. Thank you :)

My thought would be to avois Sears and MalWart and head to a professional restaurant storeand pay whatever it took to get the very best, that will lasy you the rest of your life (compared with what "professionals" will put through their pans in the same period) I've got a bunch of stuff like this, and DW says the kids are already bickering over who gets to inherit what,,,yes, it costs a small fortune, but its lifetime guaranteed, and nobody is complaining about whose lifetime! Owned too many cheap "cookie sheets" that wound up catching oil from the car in the garage, as they were worthless in the kitchen!

Pyrex dishes wear like iron. Have had some of mine *37* years ~ have a few assorted sizes (13x9, 8x8, 9x9, 11x7). Highly recommend PYREX.
