I just canceled my auto-renew for my PROfessional membership. I wonder how many will do that tonight? (Believe me, AR will be counting.) I probably won't 100% leave as I have too much invested. But the way things are going....I didn't want the auto-renew.

i was gifted this membership by a dear friend. but i will not renew because of new nominclature but because existing supporting members have to pay double the amount of a non-supporting member. and yes, i know i could renew other ways. i don't like to be devious. the new change to "pro" is stupid...i can bake some mean cornbread...but pie crust...yeah i'm lost. no pro here!

gderr, the income generated from supporting members is a mere pittance. The real support comes from the many sponsors on this site. If I buy their products, they paid for me to use this site.

I'm not a pro...just a cook very experienced in what my family likes to eat. The "pro" thing is pushing it, for me. I feel that AR has used the cooks of The Buzz (formerly the Recipe Exchange) to be the intermediary between AR and the public. We constantly field questions about the site, cooking, etc. We do it because we enjoy cooking and want to help other cooks, but AR has used The Buzz as the first level of dealing with questions from their public. By designating us as "pro(s)" they are implying that we are professionals, and that we work for AR. I don't; maybe some of us do. I don't want someone thinking I know more about cooking, or about this site, than any other home cook on this site. Just a bad ending to an already-bad day.

agree cactus. i buy their products if i find they are most suitable for my needs. i think the memberships should be across the board fair. and no, i will not re-new. i have gifted many folks here with memberships.

I am also blessed with a gifted membership...er...PRO membership. I have been torn as to pay for a renewal, as many things AR is doing has really been rubbing me the wrong way, INCLUDING charging existing "PRO" members double or more than what a new subscriber would pay. The class society AR is nurturing along with that is making me think they'll not get my money. It's bad enough we have to weed through so many blogs about sponsors products, can't they just foot the whole bill too?

i also cancelled my autl-renewal- when there was no warning of the taste of home recipes being pulled:-)
