But it looks as though you have designated those cooks as "pros". Not good.

And if you refer to Mominators post, Mimosa has it right. I didn't know this was a competition. I thought we were friends, giving and getting advice on all levels. For chrissakes we came here for help and advice in a non threatening forum. Now suddenly some are Pros, Ambassadors (whatever that is), etc. Used to be you could come here and say "how do I hard boil an egg?" and not feel like an idiot. There were friendships born here. Some of us keep in touch on other levels... Email, text, etc. The constant "roundups/get togethers" across the country should speak to you. In volumes. By "classing" your cooks, you have turned off so many. It's such a shame. You're not the only game in town. There are plenty of cooking sites. And you can't compete with pinterest and the doors it opens. You have lost your audience. You had a good idea. Pimping it isn't working. Now you have lost your fan base. Maybe it's time to rethink your mission.

It would be so nice if AR would fix the recipe box instead of the constant changes that never make it better. Remember when there used to be a little box under each recipe that you could check? You could organize your recipes so quickly that way- check a whole bunch at once and move them into a folder. I would LOVE to see that feature again. Also, I agree with everyone else- blue star is cute, "PRO" is alienating. Btw, hi ladies!

I was just in a recipe, I don't like the new boxes. I have to click on one side to just add a recipe but click on the other side to move it to a specific recipe folder, I have a hard enough time getting the folders appear on my iPad this is going to make it even more difficult :(!!!

You know, Elizabeth, there's people on this site who have a supporting membership but who can barely boil water. So, they're now professional cooks? I don't have a supporting membership. Why not? I've been unemployed nearly a year and I can't afford it! This is a real slap in the face to those of us on this site who are very experienced cooks, but we don't want to blog and create menus. There's lots of free menu sites out there. Hope you forward my response to the powers that be.

No Mam, I made the cornbread and chocolate chip cookies. Both were good!!

Nov. 28, 2012 7:18 pm
I did not care for the cookies. I feed my Thanksgiving crew the pancakes and they all went wild for them. They are the best of what I have made with the mesquite. One guy even asked to take some on the road to share with his car mates.

The most used features should be 'above the fold'. That is, the tools that 80% of the users use 80% of the time should not require scolling. Adding extra choices that are RARELY used to the top of the page is backward. Yes, I know, we all have different screen resolutions, but think of the majority. ALso, and this goes WAY back, I don't need to see a tiny thumbnail picture of a recipe - which I can barely make out anyway - in my recipe box list. Did you have a users group that asked for that? Okay, I'm done, sorry, but I've just about had it.

Who the heck says the PRO membership means you're a professional chef!??! I wish people would stop reading into things and assume the worst. Drama. In terms of computers/websites/apps, "pro" usually refers to a paid or suped up edition of something. Example: for iphone apps, you can often get the free or "lite" version of an app, or pay to get the "pro" version, which has a lot more features. Same with computer software. There's always gotta be someone who jumps to conclusions and feels offended...

Thanks, all! We are definitely looking to improve experiences across the site, including the recipe box, so we will take all your feedback into consideration!

@LilSnoo. Yes, I see what you mean. But. If I purchase the pro verison of apps or software (MS Office Professional, for example) and I create a document and send it somewhere, it doesn't have a watermark that says 'Pro'. What I'm getting from the community here is that they object to what they see as an inappropriate designation associated with their usernames in a community setting. My two cents...

We are not the ones Creating the Drama LilSnoo. We are Entitled to voice our Dis pleasure of this site! Pro as on a cooking site refers to PROFESSIONAL!! If I was a blue star, I Still would not be a Pro!!

Allrecipes, the people who come here are wonderful people and enthusiastic cooks. I don't believe most of us care one hoot about bragging on our membership level. If my membership is a paying status that comes with extra perks, I want those features available to me, but I see no need for my name to appear on the site any differently than any other member.

Nov. 28, 2012 9:43 pm
Thisni Caza . . . you get it, she doesn't. I can't think of another forum or website that conveys what level of membership has been purchased to everyone in that community. If you purchase a 'Pro' edition of software, it doesn't communicate that to the outside world when communicating with them.

n regard to this statement: "Allrecipes Pro is about being a Pro at using all that Allrecipes has to offer, using Allrecipes features to the fullest to make life easier." .....The day you purchase a membership does not make you proficient at using this site any more than buying a motorcycle means you can drive one. The number of "pros" asking questions on the buzz makes that obvious if common sense does not. This is not a meant to slam those that have purchased memberships but many of the so called pros that post on the buzz, as well as us bench players, can't even use basic features. I think this is largely due to the constant changes, bad documentation and little help from the site itself. Anyone looked at the FAQ on how to add a personal recipe? Really, AR? Get the directions written up before you make the change or you'll never have a "pro" anything around here.

It was more tasteful to be a "supporting" member. The PRO icon is now strictly a membership level which lessens classiness of supporting this site. It is a class system at best. It is also immensely misleading (I imagine) to new members who now might think PRO status implies we are part of AR's staff or professional cooks with unlimited knowledge and experience to offer. I, personally, am uncomfortable with the PRO label. I was OK with support the site, showing that your features were useful to me. I am not happy with the new status. I realize it is "the same thing" as far a paying to use the site goes - blue star or PRO icon- but I kinda feel exposed this way. Kinda like when you make a donation and your monetary amount donated gets published. You have changed the FEEL of AllRecipes by doing this.

Should read: "I was OK with the blue star showing I support the site, showing that your features were useful to me."
