Do any of you have a pressure cooker? I'm thinking about asking for one for Christmas :) Any opinions on them?

I have two pressure cookers one small and one bigger one don't remember the quart sizes but mine are Hawkins which is a brand from India my dh likes those. I use it to make a lot of dals/lentil the pressure cooker cooks those quickly. My dh cooks goat and lamb in the pressure cooker. we like it because we don't eat out a lot and it does make for faster cooking.

I have used a pressure cooker for years and couldn't do without it. Not only does it cook food faster,it makes a cheap cut of meat so tender.I'm from the south and we eat alot of dried beans (pintos for example) and they cook so good in it. Make sure you follow the directions to a T when you start using it so it doesn't explode on you.

Check out .....LOTS of good info and recipes there. I have a pressure cooker and really like it. I like the results much better than using a slow cooker. Another resource is site has info about buying a pressure cooker so you can see comparisons.

Thank you so much, I dont know if you all will see this, but I appreciate your answers and will check out those links janet. I also cook a lot of dried beans/legumes so the idea of the quick cooking sounds wonderful!

My biggest fear was that it would blow up. Some recipes called for the pot to cool down on its own. I never had the patience for that. I felt I could have done it the old fashioned way by that time. Gave it to Goodwill. Good luck with yours, if you get one!
