I made an apple cake this morning to take to a work potluck. I'd like to make homemade whipped cream since I have some heavy whipping cream. What is the best whipped cream? And, this cake made the house smell so good!!

For work you probably can't add bourbon but a little rum extract would be good with your apple cake.

I meant the extract for the cream.

Ahhhh, I haven't made that yet, I'll try that. Would you use a mix of vanilla and rum extract?

No, only the rum. It is stronger than vanilla so use less and then add more to taste.

How to make basic whipped cream. For best results make sure whisk and bowl are ice cold.

I might just try and make my own superfine sugar.

The cornstarch in powdered sugar helps to stabilize the whipped cream.
