DD#1 is newly married and NOT a cook. They had an open house on Friday and bought huge COSTCO bags of veggies for their veggie tray. Well of course there is much leftover and I worry that all that veggie goodness is going in the trash. I could rescue the masses but I'd like to get recipe suggestions for some things she could do with them for taking to Thanksgiving dinner at her in-laws. Please keep them simple and basic - she really doesn't cook. She has the most of broccoli florets and baby carrots. They don't have to be together. Thanks!

Your request made me think of a 70's dish called "antique broccoli" my aunt used to make. She had two signature dishes, antique broccoli and turkey tetrazini! How I miss her!

Thanks Saveur. I wonder where you get the "bottle" of cheddar cheese sauce? With spaghetti sauce maybe, like Alfredo?

Maridele if you can't a bottle, maybe you could melt some cheese instead. She could cook the carrots in Russian salad dressing pretty tasty.

if I recall correctly it's more like a jar than a bottle, in the refrigerated cheese section? Let me investigate and see if I can find a pic.

Cook them in a little water and freeze them for soup later. Or what I really try to do if I have too much of something that I'm not going to use, give it to someone who needs it or can use it.

Thanks nanny but she would never touch Cream of Mushroom soup. I might be able to convince her to sub something.

Hi, M, Why not mash all of them, put in a pot with chicken or ham stock, some chopped bacon, fried off and make a glorious soup. Hope helps. cheers.
