OT - A friendly reminder. Three cars were stolen Sunday in our quiet little town. One was right next door, with the keys in and ready to drive. Neighbor heard nothing, we heard nothing. Lock your cars even in your own driveway!

We have a house alarm system, three yapping dogs AND a driveway sensor that beeps whenever anyone walks on the driveway or on the front sidewalk. Police did recover the neighbor's car, damaged of course!

People leave their keys in their car? Hmmm. It's a good reminder LN. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Good advice, Lucky! We live pretty urban, and by a river, so we get some "questionable" folks through our neighborhood. Also, don't leave anything in site that looks "good". Hubs left a black bag that had an old projector in it, his side window was smashed and the bag taken, I'm sure they thought they were getting a lap top. Had a friend leave a pack of cigs in his car, and they broke in for them, sheeze!

Definitely Lock em up. It's unfortunate for your neighbors Geeze. We are not that far from the Interstate and I have my garage door opener in the truck so I lock it. DH not so much and he has tools in his truck!

I had nagged DH on many occasions to stop leaving his keys AND wallet in his car. I don't think I'll have to nag anymore. BTW, we live in a nice, fairly new subdivision in a nice quiet town. It can happen anywhere, especially in these hard times.

Savvy, you know they just had to have a smoke! I worry about the empty shopping bags I keep behind the driver seat. Gonna move them to my trunk today!

Lightedway, you'd think men would be locking up their tools! Way too costly to replace and they seem lost without their toys! Stay safe my friends!

Thanks for the reminder, Lucky! It's really a no-brainer, though, to lock your car AND your house. We know people who don't lock their house doors. It always amazes me when I see women in the grocery store leave their purses in the carts, walk down the aisle and are then shocked when they're stolen! I try to gently point out the risk by asking if that's their purse, but I've gotten so many snotty answers that now I don't bother. I figure, let them get stolen.

Leaving you keys in an unlocked car is just a terrible idea no matter where you live. Whey invite someone to steal it???? I think it is common sense to do that along with keeping your house doors locked.

Common sense and DH don't always go well together, hehehe. Now I know the neighbor has the same affliction!

Some people never cease to amaze, they will take anything that't not nailed down.Mind you it is rather foolish to leave keys in the car.The ones that really anger me are the ones that tip over tombstones, that is beyond words.

Well, I have a locked gate, so it would be hard to take my vehicle. My keys are sometimes there, but not in plain sight & we seldom lock the house, but I'm up usually up till midnight, we have a large loud dog, & many people won't trespass in AZ, as most folks (out here in the boonies) have weapons. I also get up early & it's a rare day if we have more than 5 vehicles go by on our dirt road. Usually only one or two in 24 hours. Things do get stolen, but not too much big stuff & they don't want to confront a homeowner.
