a fresh apple cake i found the recipe in the detroit news in the 80 and have miss placed it over the years you let the apples sit with spices and surgar i think it was one hour before adding it to the flour

Sorry, I haven't saved this as an AR recipe but this might be like the one you had: 4 cups chopped apples 2 cups sugar 3 cups flour 2 t. baking soda 1t salt 1 cup oil 2 eggs 1 t vanilla 1 cup chopped walnuts 1 teaspoon nutmeg 1 t cinnamon Mix apples and sugar. Let stand for 1 hour. Beat in eggs add dry ingredients by thirds with oil Bake one and one quarter hours at 325.

Hi Joanie and Janet, is it a good cake? personally it sounds like a cake i may try. it takes alot of apples, which i love i take it it must have lots of flavor to it.

It is very good - very moist and appley. Good as a coffee cake as well as for dessert.

i will so have to try this one for sure, i will jot down your recipe and i will let you know how it turns out. what size pan? it looks like a huge cake!

one more question Janet, you say to mix apples with the sugar, does that mean the entire 2 cups that the recipe calls for?

thank you it sounds like the same one but u add nuts surgar rasins let set i will try this one ive been looking for years
