Cook and a half is looking for: (2 recommendations)
Has anyone ever had a cookie that is like or is a wedding cookie but had little bits of cherry in it? Would I use a wedding cookie recipe and add cherry? What would I use? dried cherries you think?

Well chopped dried cherries would give you the most true cherry flavor. Maraschino cherries that are well drained could also be used.

Taste of Home site has a Cherry Snowball Cookie you might like. I thought they were flavorless and tried several ways to improve them but was never really satisfied.

I wonder if a little maraschino cherry juice in them would help the flavor?

If I remember correctly they did have a slight pink look to them. But they were covered in powdered sugar.

For many, many years, Mother and I used marachino cherries, NO juice however... Classic cookie, so good!

btw, we cut the marachino cherries in half. After they are baked (sort of like a mexican wedding cake with nuts and the half cherry on top), I would roll twice in FRESH powdered sugar. (powdered sugar can 'go stale' or pick up odors unless it is a new package or very tightly double wrapped.

Venice High School Cherry Butter Cookies

I made these cookies waaay back when in Home Economics class at Venice High School in L.A., California. With a shortbread texture blended with walnuts and cherries, these are certainly unforgettable. I usually bake them around Christmas, but they are super any time of year. They are particularly great with a hot cup of coffee, I hope you enjoy these as much as my family does!
