I'm going to take a shot a making homemade Grapenuts, but I'd like to try a half batch first. Original recipe calls for using a 9x13" pan (looks like there's about 6 cups of *mix*) and baking @ 350 for 30". Since I'm halfing recipe, do you think I'd be safe using an 8x8" pan? or should I go smaller?

http://tastykitchen.com/recipes/breakfastbrunch/grape-nuts/#review (although I had to make a lot of alternations ... plain whole wheat flour vs sprouted; out of molasses (!) so used barley syrup (who the heck runs out of molasses???) and soured milk vs buttermilk. See why I only wanted to try a half batch lol?

End result: Are they Grapenuts? No. Are they Grapenut like? Yes (grin) and good enough to eat. Will make again.
