Hi RNG. Doing OK here. The weather is nice, the garden is growing. Making a couple more faceless recipes today. Life is good.

B'Nana, so good to hear that life is good. We finally are enjoying rain, rain, beautiful rain. First bit of moisture since the snow melted, so it is welcomed. Garden is in, flowers are moved, new beds have been dug. Have you invented any new bread lately? RNGrampa still thinks your focaccia is the best of all the breads I make, apart from some old fashioned sour dough loaf.

I haven't been baking much bread lately. I should though. In fact I should make that focaccia. My army of volunteers in the garden had to be culled last week. That made me sad. I have already got a handful of tomatoes though.

LOL, nice! I just placed my tom plants into the ground 2 days ago, they were started in my mini greenhouse and spent 2 weeks hardening off, waiting to root in the ground. I can't wait for the first toasted bacon, cheese and tom sandwich

LOL, spring cleaning is over rated. I open the windows and allow the wind to stir the dust....kidding of course. I hate cleaning when the weather changes for the better. So much to enjoy outside. A messy house is sure way to encourage visitors.

Isn't that the truth? For me either the house is a disaster and the garden looks great or the house is clean and the garden looks horrid. Just can't seem to balance the too very well.

I set the baby peppers yesterday. Still have baby toms to set. Melons are up, new blue berry bushes struggling. I set two, neighbor set four. He lost two. My two each have one new leaf each, so maybe they will take. So much more to plant. Have a busy week ahead.

my fruit trees are blooming like crazy this year, so it should be plentiful. Raspberry canes are sprouting like bad children. I know I will be mowing the grass every 4 days and pulling weeds with all this rain, but the air smells beautiful and my chickens were even outside, dancing in the rain. Dust has settled and the leaves on the trees seem to be growing as I type.

May 25, 2013 2:32 pm
ah yes, they have different safety standards or rather no safety standards. Our grocery store tells us which country produce comes from and I watch it closely. I can't find garlic from anywhere but China-odd. I grow my own garlic chives all summer, but the regular cloves all come from China. When the radiation broke in Japan, I purchased a 50lb bag of rice the same weel-will last us a few years to ensure I was not getting some radio-active rice from the store. Might be a little fear mongering happening but I like to know where my food comes from.

An invisibility cloak would not be a bad thing some days, if I speak any louder, I scare my neighbour. Poor guy, young family moved in across the road, I was outside one day, a yelled at the baby redneck-giving him s**t and telling him to get in the house. The poor guy across the road heard me, he thought he was in trouble for spinning his tires on the gravel road the night before. LOL. He is sweet but a little naïve. He will learn

tee hee, can't just blame the guys *lowering head* I have done it on occasion as well. If the vehicle has a stick shift, it begs to me, it calls me to just leave a little black on the road LOL. But it has something to do with peeling rubber, men and rubbers go hand 'n hand. I thought my guys were all bad with speed, loud vehicles, and spinning tires....BUT if I find an open stretch of fresh snow on my ski doo, I find myself a little speed demon at times too. OR the first beautiful day in spring, role the windows down, crank up a good tune on the stereo and driving down the highway-just a little faster than you should? yeah? no? am I the only one?

Hahaha! Lake Meade is a very beautiful place. It seems like the water level is down. We used to go with some friends who had a trailer there and a boat that would keep us out on the water for hours. A lifetime ago! We always love to laugh at the images of hubby trying unsuccessfully about 20 times to get up on waterskis. We laughed till we cried.

I am as usual way far behind on working outside. The weather has been crazy, with snow late in the spring (for us). I just came in from the mowing the back yard. It is tiny, tiny. We sodded one side two years ago and the other side last year. It looked so awful before. I honestly think I could sit out on the patio and watch the grass grow, I enjoy it so much! I will post the last two recipes that I gave five stars. I made a custom recipe out of this one just because I didn't like the title. I know it's French but I don't like to look at it.

:) you can stop by for coffee anytime, the pot is always brewing and I might even share some cake and send you home with some canned jam and pickles. BUT in order for me to find my shoes, and leave the farm to travel to visit others requires 2 weeks of planning. When we take our summer vacation, I have 6-7 lists of things to do before we can leave. Luckily a neighbour takes care of my critters while I am gone and I have a great watering system to keep my flowers alive.

I know I'm late to the party. Wish I could say it was because I have been so busy and productive but not really. Went to Walmart this AM and Emily was so impossible we left! Later I felt a little bad (but only a little) because truly it was mostly because her ADHD med hadn't kicked in yet. But I hate it when they misbehave in public. Of course it never seems to bother most other parents. So we went home and Emily went to her room. I had asked an employee to have the few things in my cart put away, apologizing for having to leave because my kid couldn't behave. We went back 3 hours later and there sat my cart with those same things still in it!!! Then we braved that impossible store for what I swear will be the last time. Just horrid. 26 checkouts and 6 open on a Saturday afternoon. UGH! Anyway, Hailie went to her BFF's birthday party. It was supposed to include an inflatable water slide and she was all bummed out because she couldn't go on it with her dog bitten butt but it's 45° and raining and windy so the party was inside and bitten-butt-friendlier than it would have been otherwise. About to make some chocolate pudding for dessert. Dinner will be tortellini which the girls just discovered and love. I haven't made garlic bread in an age so I'll throw some in the oven - a good excuse to turn the oven on and warm up this freezing house. What happened to Spring? They are getting snow in the Adirondacks. At least we don't have that here!!!

Janet, raising the grandbaby goobers must be a chore. My grandsons spent some time here this spring. I see some things/issues that are so easy to remedy but need to keep my thoughts to myself. Some days my tongue was so sore from biting it so many times, the moms need to learn on their own. ADHD children are on a whole other level. They did a study, here, about ADHD children getting their learners license to drive a vehicle. It was rather miraculous how many children no longer needed medication for ADHD when they found out they could not get a license while taking meds. Not saying all doctors are pumping ADHD meds, but the recovery rate sure changes at the age of 14 in our prov and 15 in other provinces -those are the driving ages.
