I can't use my recently viewed on my iPhone anymore...no idea why. Anyway, we're having Terry's Texas Pinto Beams and cornbread tonight. I cooked the beans in the slowest cooker last night, so all I have to do tonight is make the cornbread.

Good morning......it is the second Monday of the month, so that means Girls Night Out. We are going to a little bar and grill this month to have 75¢ tacos and $3 margartitas. Since I'm gone for dinner, the guys are going to fix something that uses ground venison. It is definitely a win-win dinner for all 3 of us!

I am making Snickerdoodle Brownies to take for dessert tonight. Snickerdoodles are my son's favorite cookie, he made sure that I was leaving half the pan of brownies at home for him and his dad! It is a recipe from Pinterest. ~ http://www.myownsweetthyme.com/2010/04/secret-to-soft-snickerdoodles.html ~

I have them in my phone. So far, I've had to email them to myself, then drag them to my desktop, then I can load them here /= There HAS to be an better way! But I haven't figured it out yet. I tried to load one directly from my phone, but I think it was too big, just couldn't do it . . .

Barb - it's a good thing you don't work in pediatrics - they might not enjoy your dirty diapers as much as the xray dept. does!

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

This is the way to get crisp bacon without having to constantly turn it, watch over it, or get burnt by splatters of grease. It 'fries' up flat and doesn't curl, which looks great beside a breakfast plate of eggs, and makes BLT sandwiches much easier. Very nice when feeding a family or crowd.

does the bacon really get crispy?

Jan. 14, 2013 5:27 am
I had two pieces left from a pound. I could have eaten it but then I wouldn't have any for leftovers :D I didn't care too much for the oven method so we went back to making it on the grill. I love not having the smell in the house or the oven to clean.

luv2cook, I think mine got sorta crunchy but it didn't cook evenly and didn't seem to want to brown up. I did it on a rack like some suggested, maybe it would have been better on the pan. The texture wasn't really what I'm used to but it must be me since so many like doing it this way.

We have a recipe where you place it in a cold oven on the pan with foil, then turn it on to 400° 17-20 minutes. It cooks best on the Pampered chef stoneware (we omit the foil). It isn't as crispy at the stove top but doesn't shrink as much. But I like it that way, still can crumble it for recipes. Linda I tried it on the rack and it was dry, I think it needs to be in the grease.

at chilis we baked it but on parchment paper @ 425- nice & crispy- you will have to determine the time- each oven is so different- i usually cook mine in about 12 minutes:-)

This hearty pinto bean dish uses smoked ham hock to add flavor and richness. A bit of tomato sauce and brown sugar gives this meal a little zing.

Sorry, but you know vitamins are my life :) When taking your iron, always take it w/vit c tablet or orange juice. Never take it w/calcium(that includes a multi vitamin that has calcium in it). The calcium & iron will cancel each other out, absorption-wise. Have you had your iron checked lately?

I have to make a second loaf of this today. DH went crazy over the first one. I followed tips from some of the reviewers and added a package of vanilla pudding and more egg nog. I had the usual problem with the middle getting done and ended up turning off the oven and leaving it in there over night. It was quite done and crusty in the morning. I'm going to have to play with this recipe some more but I have a man practically begging me to make another!
