Dec. 26, 2012 4:54 am
Heather, our village is a scaled down version of historical buildings in our town, little cermic pieces. I have 12 or so buildings and a covered bridge. Drape a white sheet over a table, add a layer of snow (cotton stuff from the craft sections) and a few empty boxes go under a few buildings. I make hills and have a skier. . . a small mirror makes a lake near the bridge. And all the buildings have lights. Very pretty if I say so myself. . .

No, I went out last year & I live in an extremely Dutch area....shopping a sale, let alone clearance, is insane around here. You can't even get your cart down the aisle at Target when there's clearance because the vultures are out & about :) Besides, it's all only 1/2 price at most places right now...it was the same price BEFORE Christmas. Mostly picked over by now. I need new Christrmas lights but there are none to be had anywhere around here, even full price. Crazy. Occasionally, I'll hit Meijers early morning a few days after a holiday & they'll have JUST put stuff out 50-75% off....like holiday candy, chips, sprinkles, linens, & baking supplies...that sorta stuff. Love when that happens!

I am having a hard time finding lights that "fit" my specialty covers (aka patio lights)and was hoping there would be less crowd for more leisurely shopping after the holiday. But, I also noticed that the displays were next to gone already. They seem to have changed the strings so that the receptacle is now too big for the covers which also makes the bulbs too big to use in the old strings. They got me, I think.

I don't know what to do to be honest. I was hoping to take a few of the most difficult to fit to the store in my purse and have a "try on" event. I thought(hoped) I could find a brand that would fit and stock up if they didn't kick me out first.

Mmm, sound good! I ended up making 2 soups to take to my MIL yesterday after she ended up in ER Christmas Eve night w/an existing med condition(heart). She was feeling yucky afterwards so I made a homemade chicken noodle w/added ginger & a lentil & veggie beef soup w/leftover prime rib. She LOVES soup, eats it every single day for lunch. Of course, I snagged a bit myself, which will be lunch today :)

I never know when to stop over & I can't leave things on their porch because their dogs are in & out the dog door all day. I need to have it ready, tho, so when I see them I can [pop over real quick.
