treacle
[ TREE-kuhl ]
A term used mainly in Great Britain for the syrupy by-product created during sugar refining. There are two types: dark treacle-which is very much like
MOLASSES and which has a somewhat bitter taste, and light treacle, which contains fewer impurities than the dark variety, has a lighter flavor and is also called
GOLDEN SYRUP.
