A large (3 to 5 inches long and up to 1 1/2 inches in diameter) yellow CHILE that ranges in flavor from mild to medium-hot. Hungarian wax CHILEs, which have a distinctly waxy flavor, are also called banana CHILEs . See also CHILE.

These are prevalent in northern CA gardens. My sis cuts the top off (remove seeds if you wish, usually mild enough as is) and stuffs with half a wedge of Laughing Cow Lite cheese and a dab of gorgonzola. Microwave standing upright in a Pyrex measuring cup until the cheese softens, approx 30 sec. Easy, yummy low-cal appetizer for one or two peeps. I prefer LF herb cheese/cream cheese.
