Fabulous idea of dusting the pan interior with cinnamon sugar instead of the usual flour! I will try that with other baked good recipes as well.

The sour cream banana bread sounds delicious and I will make it soon, but I am confused as to why no baking powder is included in the recipe. In my zucchini bread recipe, I always add baking powder. Thanks

Ijust read your sour cream banana bread recipe and could not understand why baking powder was not included. I have always included it in my bread recipes when I use all-purpose flour. Thanks

There was baking powder and salt added to the flour mix, she mentions it as she is using the wax paper to pour it in. Just saw a lot of you guys on here wondering about it, thought I would let you know =)

I am ready to try this recipe. My sister has an excellent one, but she won't share, so I've been trying to find one that is better than hers! One year for my birthday, my coworkers baked me banana bread - I received 11 loaves. It was so much fun. My quest continues. I will definitely try this one.

My grandmother's banana bread recipe calls for 3 T sour cream mixed with baking soda, so my family has been using sour cream in breads for 50+ years. What I'm curious about is adding sour cream to zucchini bread recipes. I can't wait to try it out!

Marion Penney, Make the whole batch and freeze what you can't use for later. I make a similar recipe and bake 10 mini loaves. I then take one mini loaf to work for my 10:00 and 2:30 snack. Its a real nice treat that I make healthy.

If there is something acidic listed in the recepy (as for the instance), then baking soda will do. During baking it is going to react with acidic component and carbon dioxide will be released. The vapors will leaven the product, but at the same time it cuts some tangyness down. Overdoseing of baking soda gives a cake with soapy taste, but even right amount of soda needs acid to react with. To get most from sour cream flavor, you won't need this. In baking powder there are combined both acidic and soda component, though, there is no reaction until it gets wet. Then immediate reaction will take place, that is why you must not beat the mixture, but gently fold it in - those little bubbles need careful handling. Baking powder is well-balanced mixture and won't touch other ingredients, but leavens your bread. You can experiment with baking soda and baking powder, but remember that you need only half amount (or a bit more) of baking soda comparing with baking powder.

I have tried this recipe and it is fantastic. Very moist. Everyone loves it! The cinnamon sprinkled in the pan and on top just adds the right touch.

I'm sorry still a little confused, is it baking soda or baking powder? I'm going to bake this for the first time and can't wait to use the cinamon and sugar in the pan.

I have a friend who puts just a touch of ground cloves in her cc banana bread and it gives it a nice zing. Not too much though.
