Savoring Slow Food

Simple and slow can be sensational. Slow cooking unlocks flavors concealed in foods and fills a home with enticing smells.

Favoring Flavor

Slow food isn't just about losing speed; it's also about favoring quality over convenience, taking care about the food you eat and enjoying meals in a warm, inviting atmosphere with family and friends.

Linger Longer

Slow doesn't have to be difficult. In fact, something as simple as savoring a slice of cheese and a glass of wine is slow, yet ever so satisfying.

How Slow to Go?

For some, slow food is a way of life. For others, it's just a way to embrace life's simple pleasures. Newcomers can ease into slow food by experimenting on the weekends.

Slow cooking saves time when you work till normal dinner time. Your tired and do not usually want to ccok even if you have to for the kids. With a slow cooker you put is in in the morning or part of the ingerdients the evening befor and plug it in and set the time. When you come home your house smells great and you are ready to eat. The best slow cookers I have found are the digital ones that will put it in warm mode after the cooking time has expired (just in case you later thane expected).

Slow cooking is great because I can make large quantities and keep a portion for myself and freeze the rest and give them to my 3 children and their families when I visit them or they visit me. They then get a small break.

A friend of mine uses a timer plug to plug in her slow cooker it doesn't have a timer ( like one you use to have your lamps go on when your away) thought that was a great idea also as the appliance and timer are rated for each other>

I use my slow cooker any chance I can. It produces the most tender, moist, flavorful meats, poultry, turkey, etc..... Having a disability it is a miracle meal maker! I also find that placing any type of meat or poultry in their frozen,,adding broth and seasoning allows you to make soups, stews, gravies, the list is never ending. Common sense is the only gadget you need. :)

Is there a rule of thumb for converting recipes to slow cooker recipes and vice versa?
