Setting the Right Tone
Just a few things to keep in mind when planning a music-filled, picnic-fueled afternoon.
• Use a picnic basket. This is a handy way of keeping all your food and utensils together. Any large basket or canvas tote bag will do. You could even get a sturdy box with handles and let the kids decorate their own made-to-order picnic basket.
• Bring a blanket or tablecloth. It will keep you and your food away from the ground.
• Invest in a durable set of plates and extra silverware. Make it easy on yourself by always having these items ready to go in your picnic basket.
• Bring plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent; and wear a hat to keep the sun off your face and away from your eyes.
• Arrive early and snag the sweet spot. Your blanket or tablecloth can help stake your claim.
