Movie Menus: "A Christmas Story"

By:   Vanessa Greaves

All Ralphie wants for Christmas is a BB gun. All he's getting is grief from the grownups. Something's gotta give.

Curl up on the couch, pop in the DVD, and enjoy some foods inspired by this classic Christmas movie.

Shh, the Movie's Starting

Meet Ralphie Parker, a wide-eyed 9-year-old growing up in a small Indiana town during the 1940s.

The only craving on his Christmas list is "an official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing which tells time."

Meeting with a solid front of adult resistance, Ralphie turns to the fat man himself and asks Santa to bring it. Would you?

Narrated by author Jean Shepherd and starring Peter Billingsley as the increasingly desperate Ralphie, with Darren McGavin as his furnace-battling, hound-hating, sweepstakes-entering dad.

If you can quote entire passages from this movie, you'll know exactly why the following recipes are recommended eating. Otherwise, watch the DVD and keep track of the food!
