It would be nice if on the 3rd rotation she says she folds back the top strip and on the 4th rotation she uses the lower strip. If you do it any other way they will not come out.

Should have said the 4th rotation and the 5th rotation. Sorry

Both comments are right. One refers to the strips added the second refers to the actual rotation of the pie so watch carefully. Again sorry.

UTM I totally agree. What she SAID and what she DID were NOT the same thing. After the 1st full rotation she then pulled back the 2nd strip, then after the next QUARTER rotation she pulled back TWo strips so the "technique" of HOW it's done really wasn't covered AT all. :( I had THOUGHT that was what the video was for...to show the actual technique but it was more confusing than helpful. I guess the easiest way might be to LOOK at your pie and see which strip(s) needs to be tucked in at which turn (to get the woven look) but since I haven't tried it yet...I'm not sure how difficult this might be just guessing it. ;o( Perhaps they'll have someone re-do the video...with the actual instructions next time.

I'm going to try this on Thanksgiving. I am hoping it turns out well. I know it won't be as easy as she makes it seem, but, maybe it'll be alright although I'm afraid allrecipes my ban me from watching the video over and over and over...

I am sending this to my grandson, Haydon Reynolds, who is 11. He is learning and baking apple pies now! How cool is that? He's figured out how to put the strips to weave them, but he might enjoy watching a video. You know what? It really does not matter if the lady in the video is not exactly correct, because we can figure it out on our own! Not to fuss or criticise...would you be on a video on this website? Not me! LOL Maybe Haydon will!

I think that this video is really helpful; however, is there a way to save videos on this website so that we can watch them as we need them?

for this apple pie lattice topped pie, there is no mention of the very granular sprinkle upon its pastry top. there are many sugars and yet is there a specific name or company that produces this larger granule clear sugar , this sugar is very different to reg. white sugar for there is a pleasure to the added crunchy texture and that delicate not overly sweet finish.

After adding the first 3 strips you turn the pie a quarter way in any direction and fold back the strip that is beneath or under (you have to rotate the pie and add a strip until all 4 sides have the same amount of strips). At first you have only 2 strips, you fold back one (the one that's underneath) and add a strip (do this on all 4 sides). You then have 3 strips, you fold back one (the one that's underneath) and add a strip (do this on all 4 sides). Then you have 4 strips, you fold back two strips (the ones that are underneath, do this on all 4 sides). Lastly there are 5 strips, you fold back 3 strips and add a strip (do this on all 4 sides). If you don't understand me try just muting the video and simply observe how she does it.
