Good Morning, Chex® Lovers, We’re Gluten Free!

By:   Chex®

Break out the breakfast bowls: Chex® introduces five additional gluten free cereals.

Plus, we’ve got tasty recipes for making great, gluten free snacks.

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. It's what gives bread dough its sticky, stretchy quality. But for millions of Americans, gluten is also a menace. For the gluten intolerant or people suffering from Celiac Disease, it can cause serious health problems.

Naturally, the cereal aisle has been a scary place for people who could not tolerate gluten.

In 2008, Chex® reformulated Rice Chex® to be gluten free. Since then, Chex® has added five more great-tasting, gluten free cereals to their lineup.

In addition to Rice Chex®, look for:

• Corn Chex®
• Honey Nut Chex®
• Chocolate Chex®
• Cinnamon Chex®
• Strawberry Chex®

Best of all, these gluten free cereals are easy to find; they're right there in your grocer’s cereal aisle, not just in specialty stores.

You should note that neither Wheat Chex® nor Multi-Bran Chex® is going gluten free.

How Can I tell if my Cereal is Gluten Free?
Look for the words "gluten free" on the side panel of the cereal box near the ingredient list. "Gluten Free" should also appear on the front of the box.

Eating gluten free is such a challenge, and it's so hard to find gluten-free products in the store, especially cereals. My neighbor is working through this with her son, and he still wants the sames tastes and textures as before, so having some safe, easy, crunchy, grainy breakfast options really helps.

Thank you so much for making all the Chex cereals gluten free! My husband, who has celiac disease, has been eating Rice Chex for some time now, but at occasionally he longs for variety at breakfast. In addition you have made my life so much easier with all your wonderful recipes. Cooking meals gluten free has not been too much of a challenge, but sweet and/or salty desserts and snacks has been a real challenge. Most of those available in specialy stores are extremely expensive. Now I can make them for him at a reasonable price and with little effort. Thank you once again, CookieH

Thank you so much for making more Chex cereals available to those of us who cannot eat gluten. I love it when a package has very plainly labeled the product as being "gluten free" so I do not have to waste my time reading (deciphering) the ingredients list to see if I can eat the product. Keep up the good work!!

Words can't really express how happy you made our family, especially our 13 year old daughter, who has celiac. She is just at the age where she's a) learning how to cook, and b) needing to bring snacks to various junior high events. It also meets a nutritional need -- whole grain servings. To have a major corporation make products that we can buy at any grocery store is a HUGE step for those with celiac. Our family is addicted to the Honey Nut Chex, which are fantastic for breakfasts AND snacks. I also want to mention that General Mills is doing GF in other areas -- there are Betty Crocker GF mixes (cookies, cake, brownies). My daughter was THRILLED to have a "normal" birthday cake this year. And General Mills also does Progresso Soups, several of which do not contain wheat. Our family is busy and on a budget. To be able to get affordable foods (and not have to make things from scratch) is a tremendous blessing. A thousand times, THANK YOU!

Thank you for making your products gluten free. I just started a gluten free trial two weeks ago, and I was happy to see that a major company with a tasty product has gluten free on the label. Rice Chex happens to be one of my all time favorites anyway.

I was just advised by my doctor that I should look into a gluten free diet and I was so happy to read that I can still enjoy Chex Cereal!! I thought I'd have to give it up and was so sad. Thanks Chex!

My roommate who is 20 years old has celiac disease and it is so hard for her to find food for her to eat that she enjoys. It is great to find gluten free recipes that she can eat and we can enjoy with her!

Thank goodness for Gluten Free Chex! I am a single mom on a limited budget and I have Celiac Disease. It is so expensive to buy gluten free cereals in specialty stores that I gave up on it. Its wonderful to be able to enjoy a bowl of cereal in the morning again!(TIP: I crush up corn chex and use them in recipies in place of bread crumbs! It works great in meatloaf and meatballs!)
