I use milk instead of cream and it tastes just as good.

I double the recipe, with a few modifications: 1/4C butter 1C heavy cream + 1C milk 2C grated Gruyere 3 cloves of garlic (we love garlic!) fresh parsley. My husband RAVES about this, I feel guilty that it's so simple

I make an even easier kid friendly version... I take already cooked / strained angel hair pasta (4 servings), add about 1/4 cup milk and 4 slices of Kraft American Cheese (one at a time) and keep stiring, add garlic salt (that has salt, garlic and parsley) already in it as you are stirring... You can add milk to make it creamier if you wish.
