Best dishes to serve large crowds on a budget would be spaghetti or another pasta dish. Add tossed salad, bread and a dessert and it is fairly inexpensive per person.

Potato leek soup or chili are filling. Add bread and a salad and you're done. I use a crock pot so everything is done ahead of time and you can enjoy your guests.
