Spaghetti Carbonara II

Submitted By: SABRINATEE

"A super rich, classic 'bacon and egg' spaghetti dish. Great to serve for company. This recipe also makes an unusual brunch offering."

Rave Review: lola

"My kids ate this like it was going out of style! One of those fantastic dinners that you can fix from what is on hand! I used turkey bacon though! A little less fat!"

Greek Pasta with Tomatoes and White Beans

Submitted By: Joelene Craver

"An easy, quick, and tasty recipe. The flavors are wonderfully different as they are combined and meld together."

Rave Review: hardrockgirl

"Good recipe as is, affordable and tasty. We used whole wheat penne and reduced fat feta. My 14 month old loved it, it was the first time she's had spinach. Thanks for the recipe, this will be in our regular dinner rotation now."

Baked Ziti II

Submitted By: BUCHKO

"Three cheeses layered with pasta and marinara sauce. This recipe is so easy and so good!"

Rave Review: Donata

"This was great. Easy to make, cheap, and great reviews. I added leftover baked chicken. Will be making it again."

Penne Primavera

Submitted By: calead910

"A great, flavorful pasta dish for when you don't want something heavy."

Rave Review: MAZZO

"This is fantastic! I have made this twice now and love how flavorful it is without having it coated in red sauce. The parmesan puts this dish over the top."

Macaroni and Cheese V

Submitted By: LEACH

"This is my mom's recipe for macaroni and cheese with a bread crumb topping and a little dry mustard for zip. It is great!! You can make it more or less cheesy, depends on your taste."

Rave Review: FRIDAGIRL_36

I really liked this recipe--it's good old-fashioned comfort food! I used whole-wheat pasta for a healthier kick, and instead of bread crumbs, I crushed whole-wheat crackers. I served it with a salad and it was great!!

Tuna Noodle Casserole From Scratch

Submitted By: MVANWINKLE

"No canned soup mix in this recipe! Mushrooms, onions, celery, and peas all go into this comfort casserole."

Rave Review: t_jones

Great recipe, the only one I make because it is truly from scratch, no canned soups! I add olives and cream cheese on occasion and lots of onion, garlic and crumb topping. I don't use butter (olive oil instead), peas or mushrooms (carrots instead). Always great, I have doubled the tuna for more protein.

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Submitted By: Jean Tagliere

"This is a quick light meal. Wilted spinach, bacon and tomatoes are tossed with penne pasta. Good for any season and will compliment anything."

"This is the perfect busy night meal. Its quick, easy, inexpensive and LIGHT (I used whole wheat penne and substituted turkey bacon). Easily 25 minutes from preparation to dinner table."

Hearty Vegetable Lasagna

Submitted By: Sue

"This hearty, vegetable lasagna is the only lasagna my husband will eat. We love it!!! Hope you all enjoy as much as we do."

Rave Review: LUCKYKEL

"Loved it! I have turned to a new process for the lasagna noodles: lay hard noodles on sheet pan. Pour boiling water over to soften. Layer as usual. Works every time. I also like spinach (frozen pkg. thawed & drained) in with the ricotta mix."

More and more readers seem to be distorting a recipe so much that it becomes an entirely different recipe. We all make changes for various reasons, but please don't criticize the original donor. Enter the changed recipe as your own. Sorry, came across too many of these negative remarks in one sitting. This is a wonderful site. Let's keep it pleasant!

I find pictures with no recipes. I have looked every were. There is no name , so I can't look up by name and can not click on the picture to get the recipe. So frustrating! Why show a picture if not a recipe?

I totally agree with Angela that more and more readers are distorting the original recipes. I don't understand why some readers give an original recipe 5 stars after they've changed most of the recipe. Readers should be giving their reviews on the original recipe. If they do not like it, they should submit their own recipe.

I just bought some Home Made Style Spinach Fettucine. Does anyone have a recipe that uses it? I also bought some fresh ground Italian Sausage. Maybe someone has a recipe that could incorporate these ingredients?

A diabetic asked about substituting Splenda for sugar--I do it all the time. They also have Splenda for baking, and brown sugar--both work great. I have avoided some recipes because I don't always know what to substitute for wine. I also appreciate the helpful comments about possible substitutions, alternative cooking methods (love my crockpot) The negative comments about the cook are unnecessary. This is a great site, partly because of the reviews by regular people--keep it kind and honest.

@ Renee - welcome - you will love this. First check with your doctor. Most recipes can be substituted sugar for splenda or stevia or whatevr your choice. I am allergic to tomato, so I search for recipes without them. For salads I get an extra HB egg instead of tomato. Peppers I always leave out, but I may add green beans or baby spinach if it needs green. Baby spinach is my swap for Kale sometimes when I 'm not in the mood for it. But I also find recipes that sound yummy and just leave tomatos and peppers out or use a white sauce, a pesto etc. If it has pesto with a veggie I don't care for, I go for broccolli or another substitute. I don't care for chard - so I use broccoli that I adore. Recipes are a guide as you can see by the changes everyone shows, you are in charge and you know what you like, let your pallette lead you. Just be careful with your health kiddo. Best of luck -
